Terms of Service

These Terms of Service (the “Terms”) govern your use of receivesmsonline.us (the “Service”), operated by receivesmsonline.us (“we”, “us”). By creating an account or starting a plan you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

1. The Service

The Service provides dedicated United States (+1) local telephone numbers that can receive SMS and MMS messages, displayed in an online inbox. Numbers are receive-only: they cannot send messages and cannot place or receive voice calls. We do not offer toll-free or international numbers. Numbers are provided through third-party carriers and we cannot guarantee that every sender or platform will deliver to a given number.

2. Accounts and eligibility

You must be at least 18 years old and provide accurate information. You are responsible for all activity under your account and for keeping your credentials secure. One person may not maintain multiple accounts to obtain more than one new-customer offer.

3. Free trial and card authorization

  • Your first number includes a 3-day free trial. A valid payment card is required to start it.
  • When the trial starts we place a temporary authorization of $3.99 on your card to verify that it is valid. An authorization is not a charge; it may appear as “pending” with your bank. We hold the authorization for the duration of the trial and release it when the trial ends.
  • If the payment for your first month is declined at the end of the trial, you authorize us to capture the full $3.99 authorization in place of the declined payment. In that case the $0.99 introductory price does not apply and your first month is billed at the regular $3.99; no further charge is made for that month.
  • You may cancel during the trial at no cost, subject to Section 7(a). If you do not cancel, your plan begins automatically when the trial ends.

4. Pricing

  • New customer offer: the first month of your first number is billed at $0.99. Every following month is billed at the regular price of $3.99 per month. The offer is available once per customer.
  • Additional numbers are $3.99 per month each, billed from the day you add them. Each additional number is a separate plan.
  • All prices are in US dollars. Taxes may apply where required by law.

5. 12-month term

Every plan has a minimum term of 12 months at the regular rate of $3.99 per month, billed monthly. The term begins on the date of your first paid invoice for that number (the end of the free trial for your first number; the purchase date for additional numbers) and the total value of the term is 12 × $3.99. After the term is complete the plan continues month to month until cancelled.

6. Early termination

A plan cannot be cancelled before the end of its term except by paying an early termination fee equal to 75% of the remaining balance of the term, calculated as 75% × (remaining whole months in the term) × $3.99. The exact amount is shown before you confirm and is charged to your card on file. The plan ends and the number is released immediately after the fee is paid. If the fee payment fails, the plan continues unchanged.

7. Cancellation

  • (a) Activation window. For the first two hours after a number is activated, cancellation is not available while the number completes registration with the carriers. Cancellation becomes available automatically once the window ends; the exact time is shown in your Billing page.
  • (b) During the free trial. Cancelling ends the trial immediately at no cost. The number is released and its messages are deleted. The card authorization is cancelled.
  • (c) During the term. See Section 6. Cancellation requires paying the early termination fee.
  • (d) After the term. You may cancel at any time from your Billing page. The plan ends at the end of the current billing period and the number is released then.
  • Cancellation is self-service in your account; you may also email support@receivesmsonline.us.

8. Payment failures

If a recurring payment fails we will retry it. If payment is not received within 7 days the plan may be terminated and the number released. Termination for non-payment does not waive amounts owed under Sections 5 and 6.

9. Numbers and messages

  • Numbers are licensed to you for the duration of your plan; you do not own them and they cannot be ported out.
  • When a plan ends for any reason the number is released to the carrier immediately and your messages become inaccessible. Save anything you need first.
  • We may replace a number if the carrier reclaims it or it becomes unusable; we will notify you if that happens.
  • Messages are retained while the plan is active and deleted after the plan ends.

9a. Pay-per-request API (x402)

The headless API at /api/v1 (documented at /api) is a separate way to license a number without an account. It is governed by these Terms with the following differences:

  • Payment is the credential. A successful payment in USDC on the Stellar network through the x402 protocol returns a secret bearer token exactly once. We store only a hash of it. A lost token cannot be recovered or reissued, and the number it controls cannot be accessed by any other means. Keep it safe.
  • Plans are fixed durations (20 minutes, 24 hours, 7 days) at the prices shown by GET /api/v1/plans at the time of purchase. Extensions add their duration to the current expiry and must be purchased before it. There is no renewal, commitment, or trial.
  • No refunds. Payments are final once settled on-chain, including when you release a number early. A request that we cannot fulfil (no stock, invalid token, expired number) is not settled.
  • At expiry or early release the number is deleted at the carrier and all messages and attachments are permanently erased within minutes. Numbers are single-use and are never reassigned. We retain only the payment record (amount, network, transaction hash, payer address), which is unlinked from the number and its messages at deletion.
  • Every SMS from any sender is delivered for the duration of the plan. We do not guarantee that any particular third party will accept or send messages to the number.

10. Acceptable use

You agree not to use the Service to:

  • violate any law, including laws on fraud, identity theft, harassment, or telecommunications;
  • create accounts on third-party services in violation of their terms, or impersonate another person;
  • receive messages on behalf of others for a fee, or resell the Service;
  • attempt to send messages, make calls, or otherwise use a number beyond receiving SMS/MMS;
  • interfere with the Service or circumvent its limits or security.

We may suspend or terminate accounts or API numbers that violate this section without refund, and amounts due under Sections 5 and 6 remain payable.

11. Refunds

Fees are non-refundable except where required by law. Authorizations released at the end of a trial are not charges and do not require a refund.

12. Disclaimers

The Service is provided “as is”. We do not guarantee that any particular sender will deliver messages to your number, that messages will arrive within a specific time, or that the Service will be uninterrupted. To the fullest extent permitted by law we disclaim all warranties, express or implied.

13. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, our total liability for any claim arising out of the Service is limited to the amount you paid us in the three months before the claim. We are not liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential damages, including lost access to third-party accounts.

14. Changes

We may update these Terms. Material changes will be announced on this page or by email at least 14 days before they take effect. Price changes never apply to a term already in progress.

15. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, USA, without regard to conflict-of-law rules.
